3.0 GPA is pretty good for Auburn. You should be fine.

The selection of freshmen is based on ACT/SAT scores (29/1290 minimum), high school grade point average (3.75 minimum), the submission of an essay, and a record of leadership and service. Students already enrolled at Auburn who have a 3.4 unadjusted GPA may also be considered for admission.

www.prepscholar.com/.../University-of-Alabama-admission-r equirement...
The average ACT score at University of Alabama is 26. This score makes University of Alabama Moderately Competitive for ACT scores. The 25th percentile ACT score is 22, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 30.
This was a comparative. Due to high ACT scores, I'm sure some 3.4s got in so this shows a normal range for most. (This is all from college online statistics and not personal opinion.)

this sounds about right. Although no one is going to tell you if hey got into college with a low GPA, you can find honest facts online from the college's. I personally have never known anyone who got in with anything lower than a 3.4 and several who did not get in with a 3.5-3.6. (They did get accepted in other schools.)

MJ must not go to Auburn....if you don't know anything about the college, then don't contribute.

Not many will get past a low GPA (Anything lower than a 3.4 will be difficult and if there are those out there acting as if they got in with low GPA's then that would very hard unless they had a very high ACT score to off set it). Why would anyone even get on here or tell people they had a low GPA? That makes no sense. The only people who would post that kind of ridiculousness would be Greek Rank or from other schools.

AGD took you with a 3.0 then you had to know someone pretty good! I don't know of any 3.0 that were taken in hardly any of the sororities. (You can get the honest rankings online and see what the average coming through was...3.5)

You'll have lots of company with a 3.0 at Auburn. You'll be fine.

Most everyone I have ever known that applied to Auburn had at least a 3.4-3.5 gpa. Don't think there are very many accepted below a 3.2 unless they had a high ACT score. You can check that info out through the colleges with accurate ratings and not made up by people on here.

Will look at someone with a 3.0 as long as you have a strong ACT/SAT, activities, leadership positions, community service....but most importantly a personality that fits with their sorority.

Go through rush with an open mind and stop worrying about it. You'll end up where you're supposed to end up. And my advice to you is to stay off this site. Its not accurate and not nice

IWT are pure grade cuts for every sorority whether the cut is 2.8 or 3.4. Having a 3.0 cuts you from 2/3 of the sororities on the first cut.

have to disagree with above.. some WILL cut you on IWT based solely on GPA. there are definitely sororities that have lower grade cutoffs, but that exact information isn't shared with PNMs. all you can do is trust in the process of recruitment! good luck!

There are lots of girls in all the groups with a 3.0. It's not a bad GPA at all. If everyone had to have a 3.8 you would have very few girls in any of the sororities

I know some sororities have 3.2 and 3.5 cut offs and some have 3.0 and 2.8 cut offs. All sororities are different though and if you worry about stuff like that you'll have a terrible recruitment.

How does someone get accepted to Auburn with a 3.0 hs gpa? I would be more concerned with making grades at Auburn rather than pledging a sorority.

By: How?
by: ummMay 31, 2014 6:03:57 PM

Auburn really isn't that hard to get into all things considered. A little harder to get into than Bama but honestly not by much. You can easily get into Auburn with a 2.75 or higher

think you might need to check your statistics on this or perhaps you are at another school or perhaps not in any....Auburn is harder to get into than many schools. If your school used Auburn as a safety net...you must have come from a mighty smart school. Perhaps you are from an older year (back in the early 90's) Alabama is a lot easier to get into and that is easily looked up.

It all depends on the pull of students each year. The average high school gpa for my class was 3.7, and the average act score was 25. This is documented information.

The negative poster is even an Auburn student. Probably someone from another school or even GR moderator trying to stir the pot and get some discussion going. Just check the statistics for any college and you will get your answer. The question was about getting into a sorority with a 3.0. I think if the ACT is pretty high, then there would not be problem for most of the groups. After all, how many student do you know that came from HS with a 3.8 and got to college and had a hard time making a 2.8..a lot. Also pull out all those extracurricular activities! They help with involvement questions. Just come and meet everyone, it's too late to worry about that C you made in history in the 10th grade!
