reputations
by: pnmHi! Im an incoming freshman from Seattle Washington! I know next to nothing about the sororities, and I was just wondering what the general reputations of the sororities were. It would also be helpful to know which ones only take pnms from the South or Alabama! Thanks, I would really appreciate it if you keep it positive, and don't put down any sorority!

Don't worry about reps....who takes only southern....etc..Come to Auburn with an open mind and open heart and let the chips fall where they fall. Start each day of recruitment with fresh eyes and move forward. Recruitment is sort of like a job interview so be prepared to present your best self every day to every sorority...not just the ones you like. The lists here mean zip...it's your personal perception of each sorority that should matter. Relax, be your best self and have fun.

Keep an open mind. Girls drop out every year because they don't get a "top house" but the fact is that not all the great girls going through recruitment can fit into just a few houses. There are great girls in every house, even the ones listed on the bottom. You only have four years in college. Make the most of it. Your sorority sisterhood will last the rest of your life. Wherever you go there will be sisters to greet you. Don't make a mistake of thinking that you're too good for any house at Auburn.

All sororities here are great. If you keep an open mind you will find a sorority that fits you!. That being said, there are several sororities that take very few oos (non southern) girls. Look up the recruitment lists from 2012 They have location of new members(2013 does not list hometown). You will see which sororities take oos students. Going in I knew this so did not put any hopes in getting into those but, I found the best home for me and I am very happy. I have friends from many different sororities and it is true that each sorority has a variety of people. You will find a great sisterhood at Auburn.

This is honest rankings and stereotypes that everyone hears. There are girls that fit the stereotype of their sorority (hence why the stereotype is given in the first place), but there are also great girls that slip through the cracks into "bottom tier sororities". This is also the same with weird girls finding their way into "upper tier sororities". Honestly, who knows where you will go. Rush is always a mad house every year and girls go to different sororities than you would think.
(No particular order)
1.) AChiO- religious, good academics, involved, not known for being partiers (upper middle tier)
2.) ADPi- not much of a reputation, known for pretty nice girls, and being good a greek sing, and studious, some go out and some don't (lower upper tier)
3.) AGD- southern, smart, "grandma's", do not go out much, known to be the girls that guys would want to marry, type of girls you will see being mom's at country clubs later in life (middle upper tier)
4.)AOPi- smart and involved, mix of girls from all over, some go out and some don't, not all the same, getting better (upper middle tier)
5.) AXiD- smart girls, moving up but slowly, a little weird (personally haven't met one I have liked yet, but I am sure there are plenty of great girls there). (bottom tier).
6.) ChiO- earthy girls, religious, smart, involved, some go out and some don't (high upper tier)
7.) DDD- partiers, most are pretty, do not stand out much (lower middle tier)
8.) DG- not known for much, most go out, a mix

Honestly EVERY sorority at Auburn is amazing. The fact that you would single a specific sorority out and say that shows that you feel threatened by them. Grow up and don't be deliberately nasty. The Kappas I know are sweet, beautiful, smart, involved girls. So you get real
