How does Auburn view legacies?
by: Future LegacyI’ve heard some schools view legacies negatively like they are “entitled”. Does this count against you at Auburn?

If you are a legacy, you need only be concerned with what the legacy policy is for that sorority, or sororities. Look it up on their national site and know where you stand. The only problem about legacy, at every single school, is when a legacy does act entitled that the bid is theirs if they want it. This offends the legacy house and all the others too when she brags that she's a legacy for XYZ. That is being entitled. The sororities are doing the choosing, and just being legacy really doesn't get you much anymore. You have to earn a bid on your own personal merits. There are too many legacies going through rush these days to matter and a lot of sorority nationals have eliminated preferential treatment for them. So no, it doesn't count against you to be a legacy, and it would maybe help you a little bit depending on the sorority, but would count against you if you act entitled about it. Let your legacy house know about you through a rec or their legacy introduction form, but no other sorority needs to know because they might think you are prejudiced in favor of your legacy house and not open to others.
