by:

I'm an incoming freshman to AU this semester and i wanted to go ahead and join a sorority if i could. I submitted a spring rush application and ive heard back from several sororities. I was just curious about Gamma phi. I dont know much about them and just wanted some opinions. Thanks!!

Just be happy to get one! They all want good grades so try and keep those up.

True what the others above said...you can consider yourself lucky to get a bid from any of the sororities. Grades are definitely important to all of them.

you can pledge if a sorority offers you a bid this semester. If a sorority that you really like has expressed interest in you and you are ready to join, go ahead! You get to be in on rush rather than on the outside.

Why not? If you have a chance to get in one, take it! You must know some girls in a sorority for you to want to pledge now. It won't get any easier in the summer. At this point, all the sororities are so good, it would make a decision to accept a bid as being pretty smart!

The best way to decide would be if you feel comfortable and really enjoy a friendship with those rushing you this spring. If you do, then pledge. However, if you are sitting there thinking thoughts like, "Gee, I could do better", then you may not like that group as much as you would want, and in that case, don't accept a bid as you might be really unhappy. Just go through rush, compare, and if you are fortunate to be able to go back to all the groups you want, then you make a better decision. Of course, there is always the possibility that the group offering you a bid in the spring may not give you one in the summer since you turned them down. Good luck!

Pledge who you think you feel the best with. Grades will be important.

Please realize that there has been a negative poster down ranking several groups, probably in an effort to secure a higher ranking for her group. The targets for this effort have been adpi, tri delt, gpd, kat, pm, pp, sk, dz, and zeta. All of these sororities are wonderful groups with great girls. Please keep an open mind when rushing, whether it be in the spring or fall semesters. Decide for yourself where you think you will fit best. You will be the one living with your choice, not some random person posting for her own negative reasons. Do what feels right for your life. You really can't go wrong with any of auburn's sororities. Good luck and enjoy your sorority life at auburn!

ALL the groups have had negative postings, some a lot more than those you listed. There's no reason to ever post mean and malicious things about any group. In reality, as compared to other colleges, AU sororities have not had as bad a time as others. Hopefully it is because we respect the other groups. Those who post under a veil of secrecy are usually the cyber bully who just can't stand anything to be written nice about any group.

You would be fortunate to get a bid from gamma phi beta. They are a wonderful group. If you get a chance to be offered a bid from a good group, take it while you can. That's also my advice if offered a bid from any other group you feel you'd like to be a part of. Good luck with the gamma phis!
