Alpha Gam Should Be Ashamed

by:

Its really sad that alpha gam voted to not accept an Eagles member into their chapter. It is honestly really hypocritical of them to not accept a girl with special needs when they preach God's grace throughout their rush.

The girl who started the EAGLES program, Ashley moates, was an alpha gam. Surely alpha gam would have participated this year if it was allowed by headquarters. There are reasons beyond what people can see on the outside. Alpha gam does not have to be ashamed for something that is a work in progress. The EAGLES are loved and accepted by panhellenic, everyone is excited for them and their bids. We commend them for putting themselves out there. Y’all get your nose out of the dirt and wake up. You don’t know everything you think you know.

So Alpha Gam takes credit for starting EAGLES and a girl in the program with a disability is an Alpha Gam legacy and they voted not to let her wear the same letters as her older sister? There is a special place in hell....

Coming from one of the chapters that "voted" no, that is most definitely not what happened. No matter what our chapter decided, the international headquarters' decision overrided ours. Same thing with most of the other sororities that didn't partake, I know because there have been multiple conversations with them surrounding this topic. We would have loved to take part and get to know these girls, but it was well above us. It is honestly really sad and I hate that it happened.

Why did HQ say no?

My guess is that it has something to do with the organizations bylaws for membership. To be eligible for membership you have to be enrolled in a 4-year university seeking an undergraduate degree. I believe the Eagles program is a 2-year program that isn’t associated with an undergraduate degree.

So their nationals would have to adapt a bylaw to allow for the bid to be extended. I don’t know if it wasn’t enough notice for some organizations to adapt a bylaw. But it definitely was not the chapter who was at fault. It was 100% their nationals fault.
