"It says here that SN and KA are two of the better Fraternities on campus. They must hate each other and there must be a big rivalry."
People say this to members of both of our Fraternities on campus and it's laughable to a point. We hang out with each other ALL THE TIME. We're best friends, and that's just not one guy's opinion. You'd think we were in the same Fraternity. We hang out with them a lot as well as LXA, FIJI, SAE and to a lesser extent Chi Pi and FH.

Nameless,
In regards to Sigma Chi, if you want to party, this is a place to be. They can really throw down, but keep it classy. They are really great guys and are open to a lot of people (they let some of my Fraternity Brothers over for a party after two games my Freshman year). Not your typical "southern fraternity" (that's not a bad thing!), and have kids from a lot of different places. One of my favorite group of guys (along with KA, LXA) to hang out with. Really fun, know how to have a good time but can keep it classy for the ladies. As a matter of fact, my neighbors from right down the hall are in SX (as well as about 4 other people in the apartment complex I'm living in). They always stop by, or my roommate (who is a fraternity brother of mine) and I will stop by and chill with them if there's a big game on tv. Have a big cookout for thursday night college football, things like that.

As for Pike, they take kids from not just Bama but from the ENTIRE south (TX, MS, AL, SC, TN, FL, VA). They have a very strong brotherhood. They don't receive the hype as others, but they are VERY underrated. They do A LOT of retreats and events that serve as a brotherhood bonding time, which is great! And when I say a LOT, I don't mean like 3-4 times a year. The little things, whether it's going to the movies, a fishing trip or have a get-together at their house. They are the type of guys that will literally take a bullet for one another. The inside of their house is ridiculously awesome (can't explain it, you have to see if for yourself-flatscreen tv's, pool tables left and right, vending machines, etc.). Real nice guys, too.

While I totally agree with WarEagle38 and think more people should look at greeks as a whole, not single out and rank groups into tiers, the truth is, most people don't see it our way, particularly girls. I know way too many girls that wont set foot in a house that isn't "top tier". So from the other standpoint, Ill quote somebody from below, if you are dead set on a top house, you need to consider
Top houses
KA, Sigma Nu, Sigma Chi, Lambda Chi, SAE, and FIJI.
I'm not saying those houses are for everybody, but those are the houses with the biggest names. That being said, if you like a group that isnt listed above, by all means take them up if you get a bid!

Good luck to all the PNM's this week!I'm really liking our pledge class in SN, they have huge shoes to fill, filling in for some of the seniors that graduated this spring.
I've met some of the pledges in other organizations (KA, Chi Pi and SAE-all great guys!). Very exciting time for Auburn. Not trying to self-promote what so ever, and please don't take this the wrong way, but stop by the SN house whenever you'd like. It'd be great to have some of our guys meet you!

Also, Real Talk made some great points. I'm sure his experience is somewhat different than mine. However, I do agree that some girls do find it "less appealing" if you are not in a so-called "top-tier" house. It's really sad, because all of us are great guys. However, I know WAY MORE girls that could really care less. The one thing about AU that is different from virtually every college in the country is that every girl is so friendly. A great majority of them don't care about looks, are not overly critical and just care about your personality and how you treat them.
I have friends in a lot of different sororities, and everyone has their preference. My favorite groups of girls to hang out with, personally, are AGD, Phi Mu, Chi Omega and KAT.
Hope all the PNM's have a blast this week!

Tyger,
Sigma Pi has some of the nicest kids you will meet at Auburn. They are not the most well-known, but I like them. They do pretty well academically, they do not have a lot of members (somewhere between 65-70 or so), but they really have a closely-nit, tight brotherhood. They helped throw the rave my Freshman year (check it out on youtube-it was sick!). Really, really great guys (sorry for being repetitive, but I can't say that enough). They have a nice house (I've never been inside), but the outside is nice. They do a lot of philanthropy with local groups, probably more so than a lot of others-they do canned food drives, blood bank drives, help children in the community, etc. They get a lot of girls for being a "smaller group" haha.

Also, they realize how much of a hassle it can be to pay for dues, so they are somewhat lenient and do not have high dues (probably around $1,200/Semester I believe).
Theta Xi: These guys are really athletic. They do well every year in the All Sports Trophy competition with the other groups. They have a good brotherhood as well, and do the little things it takes to build a strong bond-going to Braves games a Turner Field, Nascar races when they come to FL. Not very big, around 70-75 guys or so. Do great philanthropy work (Toys for Tots). The older members are very involved with other campus groups/clubs/organizations (IMPACT, CWE, Religious Fellowship groups, SGA, etc.). They are active for "not being well-known," they throw some decent band parties and have a suitable amount of socials.
