no connections?

by: pnm

what are a pnm’s HONEST chances at getting a bid from a top sorority like xo and agd with 4.25 gpa, act score in the 30’s, involved in leadership in hs, no connections but in state (if you make a good impression as far as being friendly and put together)? i’ve heard it’s a big game of who you know especially with “top” houses. & what about more “upper mid” houses like aopi, , tri delt?

If you're really gorgeous, have great grades, fantastic ACT, and lots of activities....you MIGHT have a chance. The once with connections go first, but there are usually a few slots left for those without. Maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a bid to a house right up your alley. You may get here and meet the Chi Os and decide you don't like them. Ever think of that?

I have over a 4.0 GPA and involved in everything but my ACT is a 22. I am a terrible standardized test taker. Which sororities drop for that?

GPA is far more important. We want to see that you can keep up your grades while being busy so that you won't have to drop out and so that you will not bring the house GPA down. ACT is not important for that.

Go into recruitment with an open mind. You will miss out on the other 16 amazing chapters if you don't. Also stay off of this website. Once you're a student here, you will know what sororities are actually top and middle tier. This website is filled with lies and self promotions. Be yourself and the sorority that wants you will offer you a bid. Don't try to fit in where you aren't wanted.

Yeah, ok, I can only tell you my experience... your gpa and act are similar to mine, I was involved in hs and had some leadership positions. I’m in state and had a few connections at each. I actually liked Chi O and AGD and had great conversations at both. Chi O dropped me after IWTs and AGD dropped me after philanthropy. I ended up in a middle ranked sorority that I loved from the beginning. You’ll end up where you are supposed to so relax and enjoy the ride.
