is auburns greek life different?
by: Wondering?Thinking about attending Auburn where a lot of my friends go and would definitely go Greek, but I hear that Auburn's system is screwed up compared to most other SEC schools and big state schools. Swaps sound like some of the only times you meet other new members freshman year? And what happened to all the philanthropy's that nobody attends since the spirit point system is now Dead? Auburn's Greek future looks grim.

Is most good fraternities are either on probation or recently coming off of it and scared to throw a big party without getting hammered like Lambda Chi. IFC has cracked down on some stuff but nothing too much worse then the type of stuff you saw happening at bama with their pledge ships ending early
Last fall
There are plenty of opportunities to meet freshman girls besides swaps. Most aren't allowed to go to bars so they spend every weekend at their favorite houses and most good houses do socials frequently.
#2 by: Not Sure
I'm not sure if you are talking about fraternities or sororities. If you are a guy i HIGHLY recommend joining a fraternity. If you are a girl (which I'm not) honestly im not 100% sure what the point of sororities are at auburn. the sororities really don't do that much as a group. If you can find a group of friends and none of you are in sororities then I would probably not recommend joining one. If all your friends are joining one I would recommend you join one because if you don't they probably won't have time to hang out and do stuff with you.
#3 by: What?
You just contradicted yourself when you said that sororities didn't do anything. Yet, you said that if a girl wasn't in a sorority and her friends were ... The greek friends would be too busy to hang out with the non greek. Let me tell you that every sorority on campus is highly involved in philanthropy and in every organization on campus. Being a part of greek life is an awesome way to be involved on campus.

I'm gonna be real. If you want to join a sorority be ready to but your perfect face on. Auburn sororities put up the most fake images out of anywhere else. You have rules put on how you live your life in order to protect the sorority's image. They're also extremely cliquey kinda like middle school/high school. ADPi, Alpha Gam, and kinda Alpha Chi are the most notorious for all of these things.
I'm sure some girls from these sororities or others will shoot down this post saying it's untrue, but keep in mind their rush is coming up so of course they would. They'll also shoot it down because they gotta protect their image and prevent y'all rushees from peeking behind their iron curtain. I'm just telling the truth for people that would like to know how it is.

to rush as you can see. When you see any lists being posted, you can be sure it is just those trying to look like their group is in the "top" level and that their sisterhood is the best. It's just that time of the year. In reality, many of the girls in sororities have great friends in many of the groups besides their own, or maybe they are not in a sorority at all and they are still friends with those in a sorority. Why? Because these cliques you talk about are not really that strong any more. Surprise! Friends can now have friends outside their own groups! My bf is not in a sorority and she is accepted by all my 'sisters.' There's plenty of girls not in sororities and they date guys in fraternities AND lots of sorority girls date guys NOT in a fraternity. Not everyone tries to act like 2013 is how they see the Greek system portrayed in the movies. Pledging can be great...but you can still have a lot of fun with friends not in your group or those who didn't pledge anything. It's called maturity for those who have reached that...level. I see pledging as a benefit since I have had a fantastic time so far, but there are just as many who are not in a sorority and are just as happy not involved in the Greek scene. (Same at many colleges now.) If you have trouble making friends anyway, just pledging something will probably not solve that problem since you have to make an effort to be friendly in any scenario...pledging or not. Good luck !

and thus, the pre-rush bashing is in full bloom. PNMs-don't listen to the garbage on here. It gets a little crazy on here every year-so much stuff is make up out of nowhere. "Desperation is a stinky perfume".
