rush
by: daniellekhow difficult is it to get a bid from the top tier sororities such as KD, phi mu, etc.??

If you are impressive enough to them, then it is literally a crap-shoot. If you are not very pretty, awkward during one of the parties, or do something stupid to shoot yourself in the foot, your chances are pretty much shot. If you are rushing just to get into a "top" sorority, then you are going to be very disappointed at what they have to offer. You need to go with the one that you feel most comfortable at. It won't be any fun being the least pretty girl in your sorority, or the one who likes to party when everyone else doesn't want to. Guys are going to notice you no matter what sorority you are in if you are noticeable. And you don't want to join a sorority just so you can keep competing for things with girls who are way out of your league.

If you come into rush with the attitude that you only want one or two groups, then you may be in for a big let down. All the sororities are really good and all of them will be searching for the right girls. There are no cake walks here, so be prepared to impress at each party. Give all of them your full attention. I have known several girls that came through wanting only a preconceived group and they didn't give the other sororities a nod. Several got dropped by their favorite and since their attitude had been less than favorable to all the others, they were dropped by them as well. They were left with nothing. Be courteous and friendly to all of them and hopefully they will see that you are able to offer something in return. There are no givens. "Top Group" alum

They can be harder to get in just because they have very strong chapters and a lot of girls like them coming through rush. Plus they all (and all the others) have a lot of legacies and friends coming through. Auburn has a strong Panhellenic system so you can't go wrong. Typically a rushee will find many that they like and feel at home!!!
