why are they dropping out of state girls?

by: out of state

I’m only going back to 3 Sororities this round and everyone I know from out of state is in a similar situation and we don’t know why because I know personally I’ve had great conversations at almost every house during ice water teas.

Numbers: The release number for each house each round is known only to the recruitment committees regarding their particular house. Don't worry about it, it won't help you.

Grades: Releases for grades are sometimes a little more flexible than just a hard number, so houses do have some leeway for certain pnm's. So there isn't a number to tell you. Again, don't worry about, it won't help you.

It is all rigged ! What a joke look at instagram at different post from the sorority,, they say go KD go TRI DELT, go CHI O etc you can't unless you have a strong legacy or some pull !! Not worth it

Honestly. I was told rush was easier here than other places but it’s not. If you don’t already know several members, you get cut. Don’t let Panhellenic paint a false picture. Unless you have GOOD connections, you can’t go phi mu, kd, chi o, alpha gam, adpi and will struggle with not getting cut from others.

While that is partly true, it doesn’t necessarily trickle down to the others. Those five mentioned are looking for very specific types of girls, in my opinion. Many are legacies, friends from high school, a certain look, over involved, perhaps zip codes etc. But the majority of sororities are looking at individuals and what you can bring to the chapter and how you present yourself. Every PNM can find a home. Please enjoy the houses you have left and trust the process. All the sororities at Auburn are great on their own.

The cuts hurt, no question about it, but unless you know you have a bad GPA or no recs there is no way to know why you were cut or how close you were to getting invited back. Put your energy into getting to know the houses you have left better and remember that you're only meeting a few of the sisters during recruitment and a huge part of your sorority experience is from your pledge class which you won't experience until bid day, so give all of the chapters a shot!

No matter which chapter you end up in you will have plenty of the date parties, tailgates, sisterhood events, etc. that make up a fun college experience. And no shade, but in the connection driven houses you're entering a pledge class with girls who have known each other forever and breaking into those groups not knowing anyone can be harder than going into a pledge class with women from all over.

Lack of connections.

It’s sad because OOS girls really do have such a harder time with recruitment. This problem is worse here than any other SEC school due to pledge class size restrictions. It’s hard to see so many good girls come so far from home just to be shut down because they’re not from instate.

There are no new member class size restrictions at Auburn. RFM is in place to NOT eliminate PNM's from recruitment. Every sorority has the same quota and that is not determined until the pref round.

You must have Auburn confused with Ole Miss. ole miss has restrictions because they have variable quota. AFAIK they’re the only SEC school that has this.

Auburn's pledge rate has been anywhere from about 88%-93% in recent history. It is inline with most schools around here so OOS girls ARE having just as much opportunity.

Ole Miss has a far tougher rush, especially with Variable Quota in place. I've known girls who have gone there and it is brutal. The top houses there have massive cuts first round, including chapter legacies, more so than I think here.

I know it's hard to see cuts made because of no connections, but there is a place for you. Keep going!

My roommate and I were both OOS, both of us had full schedules all the way through rush week last year. I think the problem comes when girls want "top" houses, you aren't likely to get those as an OOS without legacy. There are really great houses beyond those so just keep an open mind and maximize your options and DON'T suicide.

If you are invited back to Pref are you guaranteed a bid if you have maximized all your options during the week?

I should add, if you are invited back to only one pref.

Yes, if you are invited to only one pref AND you put that one house on your card you are guaranteed that bid! If you go to two prefs and RANK BOTH HOUSES you are also guaranteed a bid to one of those two! It will not necessarily be your first choice but it will be the house that wants you most, and this will be your best chance at sorority membership. If you suicide (rank only one of your two houses) and that one house does not offer the bid then you are bid-less. Please don't drop at pref or suicide or count on a snap bid or a COB - any house that dropped you before pref is not going to turn around and offer you a bid.

So if you get 2houses for Pref but one is a house you've dropped, you still have to go to that house, and rank it, even if you know you don't want that one? You might end up with a bid from a house you know you don't want!

You should rank it if you want a bid from any house at all. Sure, you have the option NOT to rank it, but if you don’t get a bid from your first choice, well.. tough luck.

You need to go into pref with an open mind knowing that your number two house may be the one who bids you. This means that they wanted you the most. There are many actives who can testify that they were disappointed on bid day but stuck with it and now can't imagine being anywhere else. You will never know that feeling if you don't give the house that really wants you a chance. You can drop before initiation if you end up still feeling that you don't want that house.

It is ALL about who you know or how popular you were in high school. They could care less about how smart you are or involvement or recs. All you nice, sweet girls out there- don't waste your time!

Not true and you know it. You obviously had a bad recruitment experience .
