by: pnmHey y’all. I was just curious... So going into pref you rank your top two houses, yeah? How many girls get at least one of those houses?

100% of them. You are guaranteed a bid if you rank both houses. If you are invited to only one pref and attend and put that house on your card you are guaranteed that bid. Pnm's who attend two prefs but only put one on their card (suiciding) have a high chance of going without a bid at all, because if that one house does not give them a bid, they can't be a quota addition or a snap bid; they are done.

You are not guaranteed a bid if you pref them? You could be too low on both lists.

Wrong, Quota Addition assures a bid if a PNM is too low on both lists to initially get matched, IF she ranks both houses.

If you pref two houses you will get a bid to one of them as long as you list both of them on your pref card". If you are "too far down the list" to be in their quota - you will be a quota addition to one of them. No one will know was a quota addition, that chapter will just have more girls on bid day get bids.
If you only pref 1 house, you will get a bid there if you want it.
If you pref 2 houses and you only write 1 chapter name down on your pref card - and you are "too far down the list" for that chapter, then you would wind up with no bid because you would not be eligible to be a quota addition. DO not do this, unless you absolutely positively would be totally, completely grade A, transferring, miserable in the 2nd house.

Okay, I just reread the question and see that I misunderstood; you are asking about actually taking your two top houses to pref. It is still possible to be released from your two top houses and end up preffing at your lower ranked houses. Remember that any pnm who is invited to a pref is on that house's bid list somewhere, so houses are being the most careful with invitations to this round. If you don't get your top choices back it means that they don't feel you are a best fit for them. Let it go! The houses that invite you to pref want you to be a sister! Focus on the houses you pref and give them a real chance!
