It's not that they have to cut you for not having a rec, it's that they need a rec to offer you a bid. They will get the rec themselves if they like you enough, but if you are in the middle of the pack with a lot of very similar girls who do have recs, then not having the rec is an easy deciding factor. With all that said, all houses here need a rec to offer a bid. Contact the nearest local alum groups for the sororities you need recs for and they will help you get them.
