for pnms not from the south...
by: oos-pnmOkay, be 100% honest. How hard is it for PNMs not from the south (i'm from california) to get into a good sorority at auburn? I had a friend tell me if I don't have any current girls as connections / the fact that I am from CA means not many sororities will take me because the sororities can be exclusive to only picking southern girls / girls they already know from their "circle". If this is the case, I'd love to hear some tips as to how to get myself out there a little more and maybe make some connections! But is this true? Thanks xo

Your friend is not really helping you out here. First, ALL of our sororities at Auburn are good. If you have a mindset of only wanting certain houses based on made up greekrank tiers then you are in for a bad rush. Be open minded to finding a "good sorority" for you. Second, there is no way at this point for you to get into any inner circles with sorority actives like you are talking about. Connected girls have known each other for years from school or church or summer camps or country clubs or from extended family and friends. You can't be one of those so don't worry about what you have no control over. Actives want girls they know in their houses; that's only natural, but that doesn't mean there's no room for you or that you wouldn't be desired as a PNM! Focus on what you can control, and be that girl that no one knew before, but who blew everyone away during recruitment with her style and polish and poise and confidence and great conversation. It takes these things, plus a great resume and grades, and REC LETTERS for all houses to have your best chance during recruitment. There are these girls every year. We love to find them! That's why we have recruitment, so we can meet you in person. Hope this helps.
