by: wareagleI’m a high school senior attending auburn and I’ve been looking at the sororities and I was just wondering why kappa is bottom tier? I’m a legacy and my family has always gone kappa, and I was just wondering because they tend to be good at other schools.

Chapters vary widely from school to school. A chapter being good or bad at one school has nothing to do with how chapters are at any other school. Something else that has nothing to do with chapters: stupid, meaningless tiers on greekrank. ALL sororities here are good; each is full of girls who are pretty, smart, involved, and fun. You would be lucky to get into Kappa here, or to be a member in any Auburn sorority.

Meet them during recruitment and make up your own mind. Auburn's sororities may be different from each other, but none are "bad."
With that said, Kappa at Auburn as some great girls and the quality of their pledge classes has improved during the time I have been here. I have a couple of friends from my major who are Kappas who are beautiful and really fun girls. They are really happy about their chapter. Their national sorority is incredibly strong. Remember (...as my mom kept telling me) joining a sorority is going to go way beyond your four years in college.
Piece of advice: Don't say anything even borerline tacky when you initially visit Kappa during recruitment. Not a Kappa here, but most sororities have a rule that a legacy has to be cut before pref unless they are sure they want you to get a bid (sure Kappa has something similar). If you come across as snotty early on, they will prob cut you, legacy status not withstanding, before you get a good chance to really meet them.
