You need to start now. They need to be sent in to the houses by July. You give your resume to your rec writers, maybe chat a bit with them about yourself if they don't know you well, and then the rec writers need to get their sorority's recommendation form online and fill it out and send it in to the chapter recruitment chair. All houses at Auburn want digital submissions, but some will take hard copies mailed in if necessary. The Auburn Panhellenic site has links for forms and addresses under each chapter, and also each national should have the forms and recruitment chair emails for each chapter listed on their sites. If any of your rec writers want to do hard copies and the chapter will actually accept them, then you need to supply the writers with an addressed and stamped envelope to the chapter's recruitment chair. You will never see your recs; they are sent in from the writers directly to the chapters. Send each of your rec writers a nice thank you note for doing this; they are doing you a big favor!

There are some really good blog posts and YouTube videos about recs out there. In your resume you need to include your personal info, academic statistics, activities, honors, volunteerism, employment and anything else that can set you apart. Include a current picture of yourself so the houses can place a face to the name. Women love writing recs for girls, so don’t be embarrassed to ask to them to be written. And, yes, write a thank you note for them taking their time. Good luck!!

Get as many recs on your own from alum that know you personally (teachers, coaches, friends, family) or know your mom/family members. Also find out if you have a local Panhellenic Alumnae association, they can be a tremendous help. And make sure your resume information is correct and you include all the information that your recommender is going to need including legacy info. You need to make the process as easy as possible for your alumnae, recommendations can be time consuming and you want to make a good impression. Start now!
