junior transfer

by:

I am a transfer from a small school where there were only three sororities, and they were all a joke. I am now wanting to rush in fall, but am wondering is it going to be too difficult to get a bid as a junior?

It would be difficult. I've never heard of an AU sorority giving a bid to a junior.

It's harder to get a sorority bid as a junior at any SEC school. Just know going in that you'll probably get cut harder than you would if you were a freshman.Everyone needs to be open minded in the SEC, but a junior really does. Every chapter at Auburn has lots to offer, so be willing to accept a bid from any of them. If you're getting invites back, stick with rush. Too many PNMs decide to drop because they're unhappy with their return invites. It's really their bad, because if they'd give a chance to the houses that are interested in them, they might find a great sisterhood. PNMs who say they "can't see themselves" fitting in somewhere can also mess up. The chapters at Auburn are big, and if someone thinks they can't be friends with a single person, the problem isn't the sorority.

Get recs to every chapter. Also, if it's going to take longer than two more years to finish your degree, make sure your rec-writers and sorority members know this. Transfer students often take longer to graduate because of hours lost in the transfer or different requirements for their major, so it's not weird at all. Letting sororities know tells them that you'll have more than two years to give to the chapter as an undergrad.

All you can do is be as ready as possible and put your best self out there. Hope it all works out for you.

I am sure most sororities would rather get two really great years from a member than 4 from a girl who doesn't do much. Are you a junior in hours? If your records indicate that you are a sophomore still in hours, that could help you.
