help compile a comprehensive list of fraternities

by:

Here's the deal, while ranking fraternities and creating tiers is all fine and good, it is a lot more important to join one where you fit in and belong as opposed to trying to get a bid at the best fraternity that you can. It's never a good idea to be the lowest bid on the totem pole. Also girls don't magically hook up with you because you are in a top tier fraternity. Did you get hot girls in high school? Yes, join Sig Tau and you will still get hot girls in college. No, join FIJI and you still won't get hot girls in college. Simple as that. I think everyone should join a fraternity if they can, it doesn't matter which one you join you are probably going to have a good time and it's a great way to network and meet new people both inside and outside your own fraternity. That being said, not every fraternity is for every person. Also make sure that their dues are within what you will be able to spend. Here is a basic outline of the dues at each fraternity (not exact because they change but likely within about $300 of the actual amount): cws.auburn.edu/IFC/ConMan/ConMan_FileDownload.aspx ?FileName=Financial_Breakdown_12.pdf

So without ranking here is a fairly objective opinion of every fraternity at Auburn (feel free to comment if you have a different opinion):

Pi Kappa Phi: Decent house on New Row. Very level headed and I have always enjoyed hanging out with them. Decent middle of the road fraternity. Some of the brothers are a little weird but most are fine.

Negatives: House is cool but terrible for parties, their parties aren't that great, don't pull very attractive women, and the brothers are pretty strange.

I consider them fairly decent. Not the best but far from the worst.

SAE: Brothers I have met seem reasonably nice. Best house location.

depends on the brother really, they can be pretty cool

I heard scarface was a famous SAE. So they try to live up his reputation by selling and consuming mass amounts of amphetamines.

Sig X: Read what I read about FIJI, but to a lesser extent. I have a couple friends in Sig X and every time I have hung out with their others brothers they have been nice. Have a decent house on Old Row.

Positives: Cool house and good location, solid new pledgeclass, good parties.
Negatives: The classes before the new pledgeclass are terrible, probably the most harsh pledgeship of the fraternities, resulting in one of the poorest brotherhoods.

The brotherhood inside each pledge class is about as strong as you can get due to their harsh pledgeship forcing them to bond. That's a positive

They're sophomore pledge class blows but their freshman one is really cool. I always see them hanging out with the SAEs and SNs at the bar from what I see.

Sigma N: Considered good. Don't know a ton about them.

Sig Ep: Hilarious douche bags. They are just so douche it's funny and I don't actually mean this as a insult it is actually hilarious. I don't think I would ever have joined them but they do throw good parties.

Positives: Fun parties and cool guys to hang around (also agree with the post above).
Negatives: They don't really care about anything, but unlike Pike, it works for them, tough pledgeship.

Sig Pi: Have a secluded house on Old Row which is nice.

Positives: Nice house, nice guys, rising.
Negatives: Guys are also weird, their parties are always a bust (hyped up and turn out to be lame), not very like among other fraternities.

they have had some good ones in the past. I think there location holds them back honestly. Normally I would say they are in a position to move up a bit in the ranking but they have been consistently mid of the pack for a long time so I don't really see that changing.

Really good guys...moving up with each pledge class.

Solid upper middle group and rising

Nice house...but agree that it is a little secluded which can be good and bad.

TKE: Bad house on Old Row. Mean well but their brothers are a bit weird. Give um a shot I do think they are a good fit for some people (I'm being serious). From what I understand the have good brotherhood and are active.

Negatives: Very strange brothers, no parties and if they have one it's terrible, very small, crappy house, they have a name for being bad.

Theta Chi: Probably the best house on New Row. All the brothers I have met are really weird. They give out a ton of bids because they have to keep their numbers up to pay for their house. Honestly the most overrated and expensive fraternities on this website.

Positives: Best house at Auburn, quickly rising with their two most recent pledge classes being very good, great parties, one of the best brotherhoods around, top sororities are starting to notice them.
Negatives: They've always been terrible up to 4 years ago and now have become good out of nowhere, so a lot of fraternities hate on them pretty hard, unstable (see NOTE), highest dues of the fraternities, some of the older guys are weird.

NOTE: This is one of the most controversial fraternities on campus right now. Many say they're "top" and others say they're "average." They could become terrible again or solidify their position as one of the top fraternities; it all depends on how their next couple pledgeclasses turn out.

I'd have to agree and disagree with you. I agree that their dues are completely insane and they will only go so far until they figure out how to fix that. I disagree with you on them not being selective because their pledge classes have yet to even reach 40 members as far as I know; I know KA, Beta, Fiji, Sigma Nu, and Sig Ep are all around 50 per pledge class. This is also a reason why their dues are so high, because they simply aren't as big in number as those other big fraternities yet. Lastly, I'm kinda neutral with you on the weirdness. I have met some pretty weird brothers there, but I've also met some really cool ones which, when I first met them, I was really surprised that Theta Chi had brothers that were this chill. I'm assuming that it's these specific brothers that are the reason that some really attractive top sorority girls are hanging around there more. Still, I'd say only about a third of the fraternity are really cool; the rest are just strange. Their next pledge class is going to say a lot about where Theta Chi is going.

I thought based off of the few theta chis I knew that they were for sure going up in ranking, but I went to their caveman party or whatever it's called and realized that while theta chi has a few cool guys the majority of them are just weird and socially awkward. They still have a long way to go and they are also constantly on this site trying to prove that they are top tier. Heres a hint when you go to the bar and see girls like kappa, dg, and dzs hanging around all the theta chis you should know they aren't top.
