alumni from 1st cousin?
by: qMy 1st cousin was a Zeta for all four years at a college in South Carolina (just graduated). Would I be counted as alumni or are you only alumni if like your mom or grandma was one??? also, if she wrote me a recommendation letter would that help? Please comment thx :)

A direct ZTA legacy is a daughter, granddaughter or sister of a Zeta. You should ask your cousin to write your rec, though. Being a legacy does not guarantee a bid to any house. With so many legacies now, most houses are only obligated to extend an invitation to the second round of rush. It's that way with most sororities. Good luck!

The term you are looking for is "legacy" not alumni. @Legacy above is correct and no sorority considers cousins or aunts for legacy status. And most people also use the word 'alumni' incorrectly. A woman who matriculates from a school or sorority is an alumna and two or more are alumnae. A man is an alumnus and two or more are alumni. Mixed groups are also called alumni. We use these terms in Greek life and know the difference. Good luck in recruitment and in school so you can become an alumna someday too!

Zeta keeps all legacies through the first round, then after that they can drop them. Legacies aren’t a big deal to them though, only a couple sororities treat legacies more special. My mom was a zeta and I got dropped by them after the second round but ended up in a sorority that I love. Keep your mind open and be yourself and you’ll end up where you should be.

My sorority actually does count first cousins as legacies. It depends on the sorority.
