being shy in recruitment
by: lmao1
if you’re not outgoing af will a sorority want you? im a pretty shy person unless you get to know me and I feel like I’ll be dropped in recruitment because I’m not outgoing .... also i feel like sororities look for girls who participated a lot in high school and I didn’t really participate much so will I be dropped for that too?? sorry if this doesn’t make sense I’m just stressing on wether to rush or not :’)

Rush can be super intimidating, so whether you’re shy or not, everyone is a bit nervous. It’s perfectly fine and understandable. When I talk to pnms, I’m more concerned about having a good conversation and not as much if they have a huge, outgoing personality. As long as you can make a connection with the girl rushing you, you’ll be fine. Just try to be talkative and not give one word answers. Also as far as involvement goes, for some sororities that’s very important and for some it doesn’t matter too much. For that reason, just keep your options open. Since you don’t have a lot of involvement just do your research and talk about the different things you want to get involved in at auburn. There’s even an organization called emerge that you can join before rush even starts, so you might want to consider that as well. Hope this helps!

You do not have to be outgoing to be in a sorority. I've seen super shy presidents before you just have to make sure to have some things to talk about. Just make sure you can give honest answers and don't lead the conversation to a dead end and you'll do great. Besides even with that we train to be able to talk to pnms without a whole lot to say.
Involvement matters a lot to some sororities and others con't care at all.If you did volunteer work or a job or even babysitting though you can bring that up if you get asked about it. I wouldn't worry so much I'm sure you;ll do great!
