Is competitive! Rec's won't get a bid...but, lack of one can hurt...Truth. You will be told if the sorority wants you they will get the rec for you...but, honestly there are 1200 plus girls going through recruitment and most of them will have recs. I wouldn't take the chance of getting cut for something like that. It's better to be safe and have a recommendation on file. AND YES there are exceptions to the rule. I just wouldn't want to depend on being the exception.

On legacies-it is both and advantage and disadvantage-on one hand, the sorority will give you a much closer look. On the other hand, the sorority will give you a much closer look. Most of the Auburn sororities now have way more legacies come through than what they can pledge and no way they are pledging an entire pledge class of legacies. Being a legacy really doesn't help as much now just because of sheer numbers.
