ka is new row

by: FACT

What is the deal with KA and people saying they're Old Row? It would be understandable if they used to be on Old Row but KA has never owned property or a house on Old Row. Their previous house was near the president's mansion down the road from Fiji and is now a parking lot.

I understand that they were one of the first fraternities in Auburn and for that reason, they call themselves an old row fraternity. The fact remains that they are currently a New Row fraternity and have never been on Old Row. Case closed

just looked up the book and database Truth mentioned and he is correct. It is in black and white the true Old Row is KA, Phi Delt, Delta Sig, Theta Chi, Sigma Nu, Pi Kapp, and AGR. That shirt would be correct...needs to be made.

The term could also partially mean where the houses are physically located. Don't forget there is a street off of magnolia that is named "old row". Which is where sig ep, pike, sigma nu, and sigma chi are located.

The term comes from the u of a and it consists of the first fraternity houses that were all on the same physical row. The houses are still at same location. So really auburn doesn't have a TRUE old row. The houses have relocated and it wouldn't have the same meaning even if the shirt changed.

^^ Actually ^^ is correct. It is a UA term. The only "Old Row" that Auburn has now would be all of the fraternities on West Magnolia built in the mid 1950s, but that would be a fallacy because KA and Phi were on College Street at that time and are far older than most all of the West Magnolia fraternities (SAE, SN, and ATO being the exceptions). In the early 1900s, most of the fraternities did reside scattered around North College Street and Thach Ave., but these are the same old fraternities at AU which are SAE, Phi, KA, ATO, SN, Pike, and Kappa Sig. "Old Row" at AU = age of existence, not physical location.

Yes! Minus Sigma Chi. KA, SAE, Phi, SN, and ATO make up the first round. DKE was there, but kicked off campus forever. Pike and Kappa Sig came next. Then the rest, including Sigma Chi, came well after.

Dude, KA not only owned the 1st fraternity house in Auburn near the RR tracks (1883) when SAE, ATO, and Phi were all renting chapter rooms near Toomers Corner, , they were the 1st to build their own fraternity house on College Street in the early 20th C. The Chi-O s actually were the 1st to occupy this house because all of the KAs were off fighting in WWI. There is not a stronger and more "old row" fraternity at Auburn than KA. Debatable, but KA at Auburn was actually the first KA Chapter to hold "Old South". They are the real deal.
