2013 rush

by: Incoming freshman

I'm coming to Auburn in the fall and I am planning on rushing. I didn't want to put off finding sorority recs and have already talked to women that have been glad to help me out; however, there are a few sororities that I have not been able to find a rec for because they don't seem to be as popular in my area (I am from NC). Will I necessarily be cut from a sorority if I don't have a rec?

On so many things....do the best you can to get recommendations for all of the sororities. The most important thing is to come to Auburn with an open mind to all of the sororities. All of the sororities are great and if they want you they will get a recommendation for you. Even with that said do your best to get at least one recommendation for each sorority. Ask women that have offered to write recs for you if they have friends in those sororities. Good luck and enjoy the process. It is such a fun time if you keep your mind and heart open to all of the sororities.

There are many alumnae helping the various chapters throughout rush week. If a chapter is interested in you and you do not have a recommendation on file, they will obtain one for you.

Maybe...but to be sure you've got a rec, find an alum on your own.

Despite what Auburn Panhellenic will tell you, certain sororities WILL drop you after the first day if you do not have a recommendation.

seriously. The point is getting a good education. UNC or Wake look a whole lot better on a resume than any school in the SEC. (I graduated from UGA. WIth a 4.0. It means nothing outside of the state of Georgia). They all just want to party and watch football.

Phi mu, KD, etc. will likely cut you if you do not have recomendations

Coming from a sorority girl, some will cut you because of your lack of recs, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor. Just do your best getting recs and don't stress. You'll end up in the right place :)

It's not too late for an alum to send one in on you!
