how to get invited to larger fraternities?

by:

I've signed up for the list and received a few invites from small fraternities but how to I get to rush at bigger fraternities? Am I supposed to contact the leaders to tell them im interested? During formal rush is it acceptable to just show up?

You definitely can show up, but unless you're the most awesome rushee ever, you won't be getting a bid at Theta Chi, Sigma Nu, KA, or Fiji. They've already wrapped up their pledge classes.

Look into Lambda Chi, Beta, ATO, Sig Ep, Pike, and Sigma Pi. They're considered large fraternities, just not top and will have plenty of room for formal rush bids.

Thanks for the info! Do you know if formal rush has a schedule or do you just show up?

Big ones are full, like they said. Most of rush is over so you're in crunch time. There is a formal rush meeting where all the fraternities will be present to pitch briefly their house, then you need to honestly pick two to go to each day.
Go to the remaining parties and meet rush chairs and get their numbers

At this point just enjoy the parties of syllabus week. The big four are all full I believe, so slightly smaller ones are your best bet. Summer rush is where most bids are given out. Just keep an open mind during formal rush and go based off if you like the guys and the overall fraternity, not just size. But if it's a concert/party, just go to have a good time.
