why?
by: I am confusionWhy does ATO lie about this supposed new house? It seems like they are one of the biggest fraternities (in size) with pretty high dues. Do they just suck at budgeting their funds or what? You think they could at least get a loan for it or have some sort of alumni group backing them up.

They actually don't have very high dues, which is why ATO is appealing to rushees who can't afford the high dues of the top tiers and fraternities with big houses. From what some ATOs have told me, they have the money to build a house close to as big as Theta Chi and KA. The problem is that their nationals has to approve it and they don't think the Auburn chapter is worth the investment.

They lie in rush because it's the only ammo they have to try to steal top-notch kids from the top fraternities. No rushee that can get a bid anywhere he wants is going to choose ATO over SNu, Theta Chi, Fiji, or KA unless he believes they're building a huge mansion that will help shoot them into being a top house.

That actually sucks. Still not right for them to lie to rushees- a fraternity is supposed to be about brotherhood, and lying isn't a good thing. But I didn't know nationals was the problem, so I feel for them somewhat
