legacies

by: Curious

How often do legacies get dropped from their specific sorority? It happened to my daughter. I was a member of another chapter at a different college. Would that make a difference? I was disappointed and I think my daughter was too. She ended up with a great one that she loves but I'm just curious if we did something wrong and how it generally works at AU. Thanks!

Happens all the time. In your generation and prior, being a legacy was a bigger deal than it is today, but now they are just so ubiquitous that chapters can no longer prioritize them. Some houses could fill an entire pledge class with just legacies. Now they have to be a good fit like any other PNM. Legacies get carried to at least the first invited round at most houses per each national's policy, as I'm sure you know, which gives them a small advantage by getting an extra look, but that's it. A chapter legacy might have an extra edge also, especially if the mom is involved in chapter but that doesn't happen too much. Y'all did nothing wrong. Don't worry about it and be glad your daughter is in a great chapter that she loves for her own experience.
