auburn is kinda boring

by: Jw

Is it just me or is Auburn kinda boring after visiting Athens and Tuscaloosa. I'm a freshman and at first auburn didn't seem boring at all because I was away from home. But after going to Athens and Tuscaloosa multiple weekends, they just make us seem so boring. Is this just me?

Also I went to oxford once and I felt the same. Basically do you think it would be worth it to transfer if I wanted to have more fun but still get a good education at the same time?

You can get a 20 on the ACT and get into Ole Miss. My dog could get into Ole Miss. Bama took the dumbest kids from my high school. You probably got denied at UGA. EVERYONE iI know loves Auburn and is proud to call it home. If youre bored...that's on you. War Eagle

You would get a better education at Georgia and we have more fun!

Auburn is a very boring SEC school. There's only 3-4 fraternities that are SEC caliber social scenes (Theta Chi, Sigma Nu, SAE, Sig Ep) and there's only 4 bars. Safe to say this isn't a party school.

Hahahaha Sig ep should not be in the same conversation as the other fraternities you just listed

Well I totally agree with you except that sig ep should not be included in that list at all. Sae should have if they still were active for sure

Those saying sigep shouldn't be in the conversation clearly haven't been to any of their parties

Sig Ep definitely gets rowdy. Their parties aren't as big as those hosted by the other three and they don't pull as many girls, but those boys still know how to get down. I've only been to a couple of their parties, and both were as wild as any high caliber SEC frat.

Well Georgia will be hard to get into, will be a little better education, and a much bigger party/Greek life/ social scene. UA will be the same value education unless you're in agriculture or engineering but a much bigger party/Greek life scene. Ole miss will be a slightly worse but much bigger party scene also. I'd say go to Alabama if you aren't a die hard auburn fan from birth which it sounds like you're not.

Honestly, you have to drink the kool-aid to think Auburn is a great place. Kind of a crappy town with and average school with very average students that don't seem to have been out in the world very much. It's just what you get.

I'm just finished my 3rd year at AU. There is some truth in this statement. The stuff that Auburn people believe (loveliest village on the plains?? really?? have you ever been here??) about this town and school are mind numbing. It's my guess most of them have not seen much else. I'm getting the education I want, but this is a crappy college town.

I totally agree with you. I came her for my major, but I have been very disappointed with everything else besides the education. If I could go back I'd pick a different school with my major that had a better social scene and college town

Some painful truth, here. Average school. Boring town. I'll get my degree and move on.

This is truth. The stuff "Auburn" people say is almost scary--that they believe all of it. "Loveliest village on the Plains" is the most amusing. Auburn is a boring, hick town home of an average college.

So true. All of these things you are "taught" about Auburn. Virtually none of them are true--or people just want to believe them. "Loveliest Village on the Plains"--have you been here?? Wow!

I'm sick of this thread. To the people that think Auburn is boring, you obviously went to the wrong school so just transfer instead of complaining about it. Speaking from experience, I would say most people in greek life love it here...

You really need to check your priorities. Life will hit you hard when you graduate and realize that you wasted four years and a ton of money by focusing on how "fun" college is supposed to be. People go to Auburn because the LOVE AUBURN. Not the Greek scene, not the bars, not the parties. Your college experience is what YOU make out of it and if you don't have a social life here, it is very likely that you won't have one elsewhere. You need to reevaluate your priorities. WAR DAMN EAGLE.
