future rush for legacies

by: Future student

I am a future student and I was wondering how much do sororities here care about legacies & letters of recommendation. Like do they consider them when we rush because I know some schools do and others don't. Thanks

If you don't have and letters of recommendation or are a legacy anywhere, you'll have a difficult time getting into the top 8 (Alpha Gam, Chi O, Phi Mu, KD, ADPi, Alpha Chi, AOPi, Pi Phi)

I'm an a legacy for a couple of the ones you listed so does that mean it will be easy for me to get into those houses?

Not necessarily. Auburn's sorority rush isn't very competitive, but it definitely helps your chances.

I am in one of the top 5. we do not really treat our legacies very differently from anyone else during rush

they don't usually give a rip about legacies unless you have very good grades. i have a really good resume and a little below average grades and i was cut from all 4 of my legacy sororities in Fall 2016

Did you consider that you might have been cut from 4 legacy sororities because of......you?

You need recommendations at Auburn. If you're a legacy, you still need recommendations to the sororities, including your legacy group(s).
Don't assume they'll take you because your mama was a member somewhere. You still get in on your own merits.

Try to get recs for every one, 2 if you can. Auburn can't actually say they're "required" but they are.

Legacies dont mean much anymore, its all a numbers game. They will drop legacies if they like another girl more but Auburn's rush is actually very competitive.

Some sororities like KD have so many legacies that there's no possible way for them to all make it past the first few rounds.

I'm from out of state & didn't have letters for DZ, Gamma Phi, Alpha Chi, and Pi phi. They all kept me all week and I dropped THEM. I ended up in a different house & we do take legacies pretty seriously, but it ultimately falls on who you are. If you don't have a letter and a house wants you they'll get you a letter. I think only the top tier is super concerned with legacies

That is incorrect. All chapters appreciate legacies. But none are 'super concerned' with them. Being a legacy gets you a bit of extra notice and consideration. You will be asked back to at least the first invited round of parties, but your legacy house can release you if they don't think you are a good fit and should do so before pref round. If you are invited to your legacy pref, you will be on their first bid list. Get your recs; they could make the difference. If it's between you and another PNM and it's dead even, the one who bothered to get letters of recommendation will have the edge. Why would you not want every advantage you can get? Recs are entirely within your control but other things are not. Get them.

Okay but the top tier houses at auburn give more consideration to legacies and certain zip codes. You can say that isn't true, but it's very very obvious that they do. Everyone house will take non legacies and girls from out of state etc, but the top five are definitely the most concerned with taking legacies and bham or Huntsville girls
