missing out without houses
by: honestly thoughWe are missing out big time without sorority houses. I feel like I'd be so much better friends with my sisters if we did have them. Visited a friend at Ole Miss last weekend for the game and I am so jealous of their houses. Obviously I love auburn and my sorority here so I wouldn't transfer for a house, but I really wish we did have them. Is there a way we could start a petition to get them? Or do you have to be high up and important in your sorority to be able to put that up for vote with Panhellenic?

If you want your sorority to put it to a vote AGAIN, you should go to your own sorority to find out how they would like to go forward. Petitions do nothing if your own sorority does not support it and will not put it to the others. Before any vote however, property to place the house must be shown as well as the cost of what kind of house will be built. More goes into it than someone just wants a house.

Not having houses is a factor in girls wanting to come to Auburn. Or not. It's not the only factor of course, but it's a consideration. If you are choosing between schools and you know you want to be Greek, and one school has big, beautiful sorority houses and Auburn doesn't, well there you go. Does Auburn admissions know or care about this is the question...

People, do you not understand or is this GR continuing to post this question over and over...The financial part has nothing to do with the college!(Money for a house DOES NOT COME FROM THE SCHOOL!) To have a sorority house you must have property that is on or near the school campus (otherwise it's just apartments). There is very little property around Auburn that is available for sorority houses and there must be enough property for all the houses. Alumni have plenty of money but you have to have a place to put a house first. Please stop asking this question on here and ask your own sorority for information. This is silly.

Tennessee managed to find enough land to build their Sorority Village. The school owns the land, the sororities lease the land but own their houses. The school manages the parking lots and security. If Auburn could have a designated gated community like that for sororities it would benefit the chapters and the school.

So our house at Alabama is one year old and it cost $15 million to build. Our dues are $3,500/semester. I love the Greek life at Alamaba but it costs so much. Here's the funniest thing...hardly no one wants to live in them sophomore year. Truthfully...you're just fine without the houses! They're great but they cost a ton of money and by no means make the sisterhood closer!
