fraternities: myths vs. facts
by: Mythbuster
THE MYTH: The 'Old Row Shirt' is composed of the original old row fraternities.
THE FACTS: False. This shirt is meaningless and has only those that paid to be on it, though a few of them are accurate. Auburn's real original Old Row was composed of 7 fraternities on S. College St: Sigma Nu, AGR, Phi Delt, KA, Theta Chi, Delta Sig, and Pi Kapp.
THE MYTH: SAE initiates their pledges after 72 hours of being pinned.
THE FACTS: True & False. This is the SAE national bylaw regarding pledgeship, however, Auburn's chapter and many others don't actually follow this rule and host normal pledgeships.
THE MYTH: Theta Chi can't afford to stay in their house and ATO plans on buying it.
THE FACTS: False. Theta Chi is one of the wealthiest fraternities on campus. Having the third highest dues with a large brotherhood along with wealthy alumni helps them generate over $800,000/year in income. ATO hopes to begin building a house of their own next to KA on new row within the next 5 years.
THE MYTH: Sigma Chi is returning in 2017.
THE FACTS: True. Sigma Chi nationals plans to restart Sigma Chi as a colony in 2017 once every member of the previous brotherhood has graduated and will be reclaiming their house on old row.
THE MYTH: KA has never had a held bid that pledged elsewhere.
THE FACTS: False. Every fraternity has held bids pledge elsewhere each year, including KA. Despite their yearly claims to a "perfect rush", you can find many KA held bids that are now brothers in other fraternities.

Actually, you are incorrect. Those on the old row shirt to pay for it through the ordering it in bulk and agreeing to be on it. The fraternities on it were not the original old row, look it up. Secondly, Sigma Chi's former brothers have absolutely no say in the matter as they were kicked off. It is completely in their nationals hands, who is choosing not to re-charter yet. OP was correct.
