sorority time commitment at auburn questiom

by:

Hey everyone!
I'm going to be an upcoming freshman at Auburn and I've been looking at rushing this fall. I think it would be a great and exciting opportunity to make lifelong friends and would be a blast. My only concern is the time commitment. I plan on being a pre-med/chemistry major, in the honors college, and would love to study abroad and do research with professors. I really want to go to a top medical school such as Vandy or an Ivy, but to do that I need to make sure I put plenty of time into studying to keep a very high GPA and get a great MCAT score, as well as putting plenty of time into research, extracurriculars, and volunteering. Also, with my dual enrollment, AP scores, and summer classes I hope to be able to graduate in/around 3 years so I do not know how that will affect my sorority membership later on either. With all of that said, realistically, would it be possible to balance all of my studies and the other things I mentioned while also being in a sorority? What does the time commitment for most sororities look like at Auburn? Rundown of a weekly schedule being in a sorority at Auburn? I've heard things about girls being required to be out from 10-2AM and having big tests the next day, true or false? I just really want to know what I'm getting myself into before I make the decision to rush as I know rushing would be a great opportunity.
Thank you all so much!!!

Sororities can be a huge time commitment. I would suggest finding a sorority that really cares about grades. There are some sororities that do no require you to go to swaps and socials when you have to study, so look into sororities that don't require you to go. I suggest looking into sororities that are big into acedemics, and usually they require less focus on other things. When going through recruitment ask sororities about their focus on acedemics, and then go from their. Usually the commenitment really dies down after sophomore year. Also, you can go temp collegiate if you are studying abroad. I would also ask about a sorority's involvement.
