Umm...I'm a "Yankee" (from a VERY Liberal state-although I, myself, am a conservative) and I'm in Sigma Nu, which almost NEVER takes kids from above the Mason-Dixon Line.

remember that the fact that your cousin was cut does not mean that Chi-O hated her or anything of that nature. Every girl who goes through rush will be cut by various houses. It's just a matter of staying positive and keep going back to the groups that make a positive impression on you. Every house has to be aware of legacies who have strong family ties to the sorority coming through rush and will generally hold aside some slots for those girls. Your cousin may have simply been a victim of numbers at an old and established house like Chi-O which could have a ton of legacy girls rushing. Also remember that the president may have loved your cousin, but she has only one vote just like everyone else. There are so many reasons that a girl could get cut. Just keeping a good attitude and an open mind are the keys to finding a house where you fit and will be happy. Every sorority at Auburn has so much to offer. Good luck to your cousin and to you down the road a bit. War Eagle!!

Rush is on a roll at Auburn this year. Huge numbers of great girls going through. Looks like all of the Greek organizations on campus can be excited about both quantity and quality in their pledge classes. Remember the motto, DG... DO GOOD!!!

I have heard Chi-O makes the biggest first cut of any of the sororities on campus. Even if a girl is adorable she won't make that first cut unless she her GPA and resume are amazing. I'm sure your cousin will find a great sorority for her - hope she doesn't get discouraged or take it personally. Chi-O's are awesome but so are lots of other groups:)
