which to rush?

by: V

Hey! I'm an international student and it's my first year in UCI. I just heard about the sisterhoods here. I'm not familiar with these sororities. But I'm really looking forward to join one. I'm a Chinese, 5'75', undeclared major, kind and easygoing. I'm looking for an international students friendly sorotity. Most importantly, I want a real sisterhood. The members are really friendly and polite, helpful and positive. Don't fight each other. Is there any advice? Thank you in advance.

I assume when you say your Chinese you mean from China and not a Chinese person living somewhere else. Fact of the matter is, unless your from Australia, Canada or Western Europe, maaayyyyyybe Mexico, you will be treated like crap during rush. People get really weird about letting internationals into the Greek system.

Your English looks good though and that's a plus. You may want to say you are Chinese born but from the San Gabriel Valley... Or say you are from the SGV but have been living with relatives in China for the last few years.. Trust me, it will increase your chances so much.

Just be yourself and you'll find a good house! talking about sisterhood is a plus. Ask them about their sorority. Talk about yourself too. Ask them about themselves.

No one treats international like crap, please...

To OP, if you really have the quality, they will take you in, where you're from doesn't matter

Maybe you should also check into the multicultural fraterneties/ sororities ALSO. Just based on your description, you may find you have more things in common.. as they too may have similar stories. They also have strong sisterhood, which is what you're looking for.

You shouldnt ask strangers on the internet what sorority you should join after describing yourself in several sentences, you will be disappointed
