fall recruitment
by: Incoming Junior PNM
I really want to rush this fall but, I have some concerns (money, stereotypes, rushing as a junior, etc.) so I want to make sure the pros outweigh the cons! I was just wondering if anyone was willing to share some of the reasons they suggest going Greek & their experiences!
I'm a little overweight (although I'm told I'm pretty & I'm really outgoing/active) and as much as looks shouldn't matter, I know they do so does that totally kill my chances for some of the top/mid tier sororities (especially Tri Delta and Theta)? I'm really trying to have an open mind & get myself together before fall! Please no hateful comments, and thank you! :)

The top houses all have some girls that I would say are overweight and a lot of the "bottom" houses have a lot of skinny girls. Weight is only one matter when it comes to your looks. There are a lot of girls that I wouldn't call "pretty" or "fit" by traditional standards in top houses but they carry themselves well and with confidence.
You definitely have a chance at every house. I would say that when you go through the process think about it as "I am choosing the house, they are not choosing me." If you get dropped from Theta or Tri Delt then you will be happier. If you end up in one of those houses, then great :)

Not true. DG and Aphi have girls who have imperfections but they carry themselves well and are poised. You have a chance with them, but I think who you fit with is the best.
I rushed a house not for the ranks. I picked the girls who let me be my dorky self and accepted me for it. I didn't have to try. It was all natural. Sororities are expensive and time-consuming, but if you can make it work, do it.
