sororities

by:

I know this isn't something you guys can really discuss, but how do the prices stack up for each sorority? I can't afford one that is on the higher end of the price range so I'd like to know which ones to rule out...

For fall recruitment, they give the PNMs booklets that explain dues and grades. It's the same for winter. In Fall 2013, Pi Phi had the highest dues ($800+) but they justified it as "all inclusive" meaning they factored in everything. This year SK had the highest ($860) but none of the chapters have all inclusive and I don't know why...new Panhellenic rules? God knows why SK's fees jumped so high because I don't even know what they do. Tridelt ($829), Alpha Phi ($780), GPhi (680), Pi Phi ($603.34, so specific wtf), Theta ($515). Your fees are cut in half when you're initiated though

I was Fall '13 but my roommate went through it this year and luckily she had her book still. Good luck!

Yes. But keep in mind that non inclusive means a couple extra hundred dollars for housing and events and other things. For example, Pi Phi's fees are close to a grand first quarter, definitely not 600.

Yep. The prices may look lower this year, but that just means extra fees are hidden

Ah! And you don't pay most of the fees until you get initiated. So there's a couple weeks buffer to really make up your mind before the big one hits.

That really depends on which chapter it is. Tridelt has big/little reveal during week 2 and their initiation is super early. Most chapters do allow you to pay right before initiation (around week 8), but it's not all the same. Plus, some have non-refundable fees that you have to pay even if you depledge because of finances

There is not such thing as "all-inclusive." That's why it was removed this year. Every chapter has different charges that are included in their dues. In the past all-inclusive meant different things for each chapter and some chapters were less truthful than others. But if you read the booklet the price changes based on whether or not they have monday night dinners, all required apparel included, chapter retreats, or if their member badge is included. :) Hope this helps!
If you go through recruitment you can ask each chapter about it. They all also have payment plans.
