winter recruitment

How hard is formal recruitment and how exactly does it work?
I'm finally sure I want to rush, and I'm scared I'll only get one bid or none at all. I have my eye on a few particular sororities, but I'm open-minded to seeing which ones I click with during rush week. I'm just worried I'll have to settle, and as a second year I don't want to wait until fall 2015 to finally join a sorority.

I feel your pain! Wish you wouldve rushed this past fall. Well so far I'm pretty sure every sorority except DG is doing some sort of winter recruitment and a few will be doing spring. Reach out to those who you want in particular, even if you don't think they're doing recruitment or aren't sure how you feel about them. They'll give you all the answers you need about events and such. There are mixers too, so check out UCI panhellenic's facebook and website. Fall recruitment is great because you get to meet everyone. Often times you'll see winter girls pretty much just settle for a house instead of truly finding their fit (if they didn't really know the chapter to begin with). Either way, I'm exited you're going greek!

From a guys perspective- You're best two bets are Gamma phi and Tri Delta or Alpha Phi. From what I've heard those two houses go the hardest, have the nicest girls and the BEST sisterhoods. My bros and I don't ever need to go out of our way at parties because they got they're sisters covered. They also have some of the hottest girls. ALL hot AF top tier material from my perspective.

Theta is also good. But they haven't had outstanding PCs the last few years, and have kind of weird relations. Not my TOP choice, but a really really solid house with attractive girls who know how to party

there is usually a mixer put on by panhellenic where you can meet like two girls from every chapter. they give you information about events and such then. it's way more laid back and up to the chapter how they want to conduct events, but all of them have a pref night in common. same rules apply. be yourself, avoid giving off a bad impression, get to know as many girls as you can, sell yourself, etc. also you can reach out to chapters via fb or their recruitment chairs whose info should be on chapter websites. they can give you more info.

Thank you!! :) That was very helpful! Do you know how exactly I should reach out to the sororities when I don't know anyone in them? I have a few preferences in mind, but I'm open to all of them. I'm worried I won't get a bid though, especially for my top choices! I'm excited yet scared about the whole process because I don't know too much and hope I don't have to settle or wait until spring/fall.
