are we still in high school?

So, I'm a fourth year new member and I'm not really familiar with the way the greek system works around here yet, but I keep hearing/seeing people talk about how someone from the top house would never be caught dead dating someone from a bottom house.... Really? Are we really still doing that football player - cheerleader dating dynamic that I thought we left back in high school? I was excited to go greek because I wanted to get the most out of college experience before I graduate this year but all this weird "popularity" bs is making me consider deactivating.
Can someone who has been in a fraternity/sorority for a while tell me if they feel that there indeed is a sense of this whole wanting to be popular and discriminating among houses thing going on? or is it just bad luck that I've been running into it.

Sorry.
ranking nonsense. I think you should just ignore it. I was never popular in high school but even some of those people I have seen recently want to chill with me now. Imo it is a sense of maturity to not be petty and judgmental. I'm glad they learned their lesson. Like I said, I was never popular so I always accepted it. I am glad I was taught to hang out with whoever I want.
