bio majors

by: PNM

I start UCI in the fall, as a bio major. I wanna go Greek, and so far the sororities that have caught my interest are Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, and Tri Delt. However, I haven't really seen/noticed many bio majors in these three. Is it uncommon for someone to successfully manage being in a top tier sorority and still maintain a fairly high GPA as a bio major? Thanks guys!

I know for a fact that tri delt has a ton of bio majors and a few girls who have even gotten insane research opportunities, gotten into amazing med/grad schools, and even a lot of biomedical engineering.

I can only speak on behalf of Alpha Phi, but I know that they have a lot of bio majors! They also have the second highest Panhellenic GPA, behind AEPhi! Go through recruitment and meet every house first! =) Good luck!

alpha phi and tri delt both have a lot. no idea about their individual gpas but aphi had a pretty high gpa overall last quarter so they can't be doing badly. not sure about dg, but that's just cause i don't know many dgs.

Alpha phi and dg had the best overall GPA. But, there are smart girls for every chapter. Networking matters but look for quality girls in the sorority.

DG actually has a really large number of science majors. Lots of bio, nursing, and various engineering majors. Only a few math majors though! There are definitely smart girls in all three of these chapters!

All the sororities have bio majors. Just work hard and stay focused. Learn to balance time. You will be able to achieve all your goals.:)

Hi! It is definitely possible to manage both! I am a Engineering major and also in a sorority! You just have to dedicate yourself and work hard. It's not any different than working part-time and going to school. Just a few tips don't have your heart set on a sorority already! Wait for fall recruitment! Also, just because it is a top tier sorority doesn't mean you will be happy. I won't say which one but I rushed in fall my freshmen year and got a bid from one of those top three you posted about. However, I ended up really disliking the girls and they seemed a bit catty and full of themselves. I am not saying in any way that you won't find conceited catty girls in every sorority but it just seemed that there were a lot of them in this particular sorority. Just because it is a top tier sorority in others opinions does not in any way mean it will make you happy. I ended up doing Winter recruitment that same year and joining another sorority. This one is not considered "top tier" but honestly in my opinion the girls were a lot nicer and more down to earth and I can say I am very happy with my decision. So please don't decide based on what you read on this website. Find out for yourself during fall recruitment and really consider all the options! Hope this helped!
