by: UMMMMI know the entire cast of shrek is coming on here to down vote honest comments.... but 3rd Place should've gone to Young Frankenstien or Spamalot. This happens each year where a cast who doesn't deserve to win, (not even close) places. Last year it was Hair Spray, the year before AXO should've placed with All Shook Up. The judges always have kids in songfest. Songfest is just a glorified way for Alumn to give their own chapters awards. There's no way that Something Rotten should've lost to Cinderella, and no way Shrek should've gotten best overall vocals to Young Frankenstien or Spamalot. Those shows had dope harmonies.

Do you all not realize that shrek the musical is an intentionally tacky show...? It's literally a musical making fun of musicals. Spamalot was amazing, but shrek was not as bad as you are all making it out to be. I heard so many casts saying they felt threatened by shrek

Did you know that Songfest judges are in some way connected to multiple people on stage? That automatically plays favorites.
Did you know that the score sheets are taken away after each performance so judges can't go back to fix their scores to ensure that who they think should win their respective category wins?
Did you know that individual awards make up 1st, 2nd and 3rd in show?
And why were best costume and scenic design one award? Also, why aren't there more awards like best dancer, best acting, etc.?
There were definitely shows that were robbed based on the above. What's nice is that the 2017 exec board has the opportunity to change it! Let's hope they do....

My god the butthurt is too real. There have never been that many individual awards, thats not what its about.
Tell me how the judges are connected to these shows too please. If I'm correct no shows outside the top 3 even won any sort of awards?? Ya, real robbed.

I think you guys are forgetting that the executive director and producer were both DG's, and their chapter won nothing. Now please move on with your lives.

We should be celebrating/supoorting each other instead of tearing each other down. Stop hating on shrek... The judges are somewhat professions in the theater/dance whatever iindustry and they must have seen something... It could be an average thing where one judge could have just hated a performance and it could have thrown a set from the 3rd spot... Or they could have just enjoyed another show more. It's incredbile what we did as a community and this complaining is really ruining things. IF you want things to change then be on songfest exec and change it instead of hiding behind an anonymous site and complaining...

Not affiliated to either DG or Gphi, in fact my show did horrible, but all week long people were saying the top shows were Cinderella, something rotten, frankenstein, and Spamalot. That just doesn't come out of nowhere. If shrek were really that great they would have been included. In my own humble opinion, I think Shrek deserved the costumes award, but not overall vocals or third place. It was not that great of a show and made me cringe when I heard them sing.
