by:

I was wondering what the gap requirement is for each sorority doing formal rush cause I want to rush as a sophomore but my gpa's pretty low. Do I have a chance??

Sororities take pride in their house GPA. However, even at a university like Davis some of the stupidest girls I know are in sororities. They don't study and take more pride in their exchange outfits than their studies. You'll be fine with your GPA because the most important thing is looks and the impression you make on them during recruitment ( even though it sounds shallow). If however your GPA is stupidly low once you're a member, you can be put on social probation. But if you already have a low GPA, why join something that probably won't help it? You go to Davis for school first.

The average GPA for all 8 sororities is far above the UCD campus average. We know how to work hard and play hard.

naww. The girls who truly know how to play hard don't work hard. More so, it's a few girls who don't go out that bump the chapter gpa up. The girls you didn't even know where in the sorority bc they spend all their time doing work and skyping their long distance bf.

Aphi freshman and half of aphi- surprised they got into davis

So there's no chance any of the sororities will disqualify me for having a 2.5 gpa?

Probably not.

Ignore all the negative comments, they're just being unhelpful.. Just to give you a better perspective though, a 2.5 is below the requirement for the sorority I'm in (don't wanna give names and start drama or something) but we would still take you if you can get your gpa up the quarter you join. Below a 2.3 though and we can't even accept you at all :/

@Help, I know each house has a minimum gpa they require the girls to meet, is that usually around a 3.0?

for incoming freshman, 3.0 and above (even though most girls have that since it's Davis). for returning sophomores & up, we want to see girls with a 3.0+ but usually the bare minimum to be considered is a 2.5, a girl won't be docked if she has anything above a 2.8 basically, anything above a 3.0 bumps her up on the list.

Okay, so if I have like a 2.7 but it can be raised to a 3.0 by the end of fall, would I still be on the chopping block most likely if it came down to grades?
-And I'm a continuing junior, not a freshman

to be honest you're not going to get into any of the top houses. they take like literally 1-2 continuing juniors each, (if that) because they have their pick of the pnm's. your gpa isn't even relevant, its the fact that you stayed on campus for two years without going greek, which houses look down upon. you'll get swept up by a lower house though.

Hey! So I withdrew from my classes and ended up going home for two year. I ended up taking 2 years of cc classes and have a pretty good gpa. However when I left my gpa was a 2.1. If I were to rush would I be docked down because of this. Since I left I would be coming back as a second year

I wouldn't consider Greek life if you struggle to maintain approx. a 3.0 average, as that is what most sororities expect out of you. @ anyone saying that sorority girls can't do well and be smart, myself and my friends are literally the executive council of our sorority (one of the top 4 houses) and we all get Dean's List with majors like Civil Engineering, Finance, NPB, and Computer Science, on top of going out at least once a weekend. So don't judge please!
