greek life: the bottom 50% of your classes' curves

by:

Being in a frat or sorority doesn't help you with anything in life, all you do is get drunk and make your parents pay money to be friends with other losers like you. "OHBUTLYKECONNECTIONZANDALUMNI!!!!!11" That's the biggest joke I've heard, how many people do you know have been simply handed jobs because they were frat bros? You're also all acting like networking doesn't exist outside of Greek Life. Maybe there are a couple success stories in your chapter, but come on. All Greek Life is is a huge distraction that helps 18-year-old kids black out to dull the pain of them failing their communications midterms.

Wake up. Fraternities and sororities are huge money-making ploys designed to get your mommies and daddies to cough up hundreds of dollars a quarter (that eventually adds up to thousands) to pay the salaries of those who run the national headquarters. Also, from the looks of the petty, childish comments spewed on this site, you all really do gossip like crazy and act like 8th-grade girls.

Then I found a link to the Greek community's academics report and noticed that well over half you geniuses can't even keep a B average in your classes. I hope you all enjoy this 4 (or 5 from the looks of it) year extension of high school and I'll see you all at Starbucks after graduation (if you don't drop out and become a barista sooner). Have fun beating your chests and badmouthing each other, losers. The rest of us at UC Davis will be busy growing up and being productive.

Someone didn't get a bid.. The members of the greek community each stand for, believe in, and defend the ideals of their respective organization and make lifelong friendships. Geeds by contrast are interested in 2 things. Crashing parties anonymously and stealing other people's alcohol.

This person isn't very well informed of the leadership experience available and philanthropy opportunities found in Greek Life. Though, as an outsider, I see what he or she is saying about paying "the salaries" of the people at headquarters. It's not totally wrong.

Well, first I don't know what tuition you are paying, but UCD's is not $10000/quarter. That's pushing it, it's a little above $4000/quarter. But at the same time, even though it is tough and expensive to pay for, college education is a necessary expense that'll pay itself off upon graduating and getting a job (not a Starbucks, though, thanks, OP). Plenty of students do great in life without being in Greek Life and paying for it. Although I disagree with the original post's overall views, I give some credit to that part of the argument.
