sorority selectivity—does everyone get a bid?

by:

Hello everyone,

I’m going to be an incoming freshman and I’m planning to rush this fall. I have a few questions about the selectivity of Davis sororities.

How competitive is rushing a sorority at UC Davis? What are the chances that you don’t get into your first-choice sorority? If you don’t get your first choice, is it possible that your alternate choice will get you a bid? Also, how important are looks in getting a bid?

Thanks!!

Honestly it all kind of depends! If your top choice sorority is the house you feel like you really clicked with and you really enjoyed talking to the girls in that house, chances are, they’ll probably feel the same way about you too. However you will end up talking to many different groups of girls at each house and you may not click with all of them. So it really does depend. As long as you go into recruitment with an open mind you’ll be fine, because your top house after the first day may not end up being your top house after the next day, if that makes any sense. Chance are you may not even have a top house at all at first, the process of recruitment kinda narrows it down for you. Just trust the system, everyone gets a bid and you’ll find your home!
