what is wrong with tke?

I didn't rush this quarter but I plan on rushing TKE and other top houses next year. My friend was a pledge but he dropped & I also hear negative things about them. Why do people not like them? They literally have one of the biggest houses in davis

Simply put, they're not a top house. They struggle to fill the house they have (and many think the house is wasted on them), and they have really poor relations with sororities. That means exchanges would be exclusively with bottom sororities and top sororities would ignore or say no to asking for exchanges.

On top of that, the brothers consist of lots of really weird guys and a few mediocre guys. I'm sure they're nice, but in a Greek life setting TKEs generally stand out as those who follow "if you can't go Greek, go TKE." They also smoke a lot of weed and seem to try really hard. That and they haze their pledges a little too much.

If you like them, don't let this deter you from rushing. This is just the reputation they have amongst the Greek community. You should really try to check out "better" houses to see who you fit best in with
