low gpa-to rush or not to rush

by: freshman

I have a low GPA after this past semester (below a 2.0, not proud of it). I plan on raising it to a 2.8 or even a 3.0 this semester. However, will my low GPA keep me from getting picked? Should I not bother rushing?

I would suggest waiting to rush til spring your sophomore year. That way you can get your GPA up and have a higher chance of getting into the sorority you want.

It'd be devastating to fall in love with a sorority and then not be able to join or get a bid because of your GPA

Majority of chapters will very likely cut you on round 1 just because you’re under their minimum gpa standard. I would definitely wait and get your grades up and rush next spring! 2.8 is still not great though, definitely try for a 3.0 if you want options.

Yeah I wouldn't rush...wait until it's higher and you can do it formally next january or even in the fall if there's one you like. you would probably get cut pretty early

Most sororities require at least a 2.5 per semester anyways so if you did get a bid.. you still would end up on bad standing anyways

I don't know how it is in all chapters but in mine if your GPA is below the national requirement you automatically don't get asked back so no matter how great your conversations with the girls are you'd miss out on a bid :( if you raise it like you plan to you can COB or do informal next fall!!
