by: incoming freshmanI was looking at UF's fraternities and I noticed that Phi Sigma Kappa is brand new. How are they? Do you think i should give them a shot instead of other "on campus" fraternities? And since Gamma phi beta will be coming in the fall, would they be paired up with them? thanks

The best advice I can give you is to talk to as many fraternities as you can at the Rush BBQ which happens after the Orientation the Sunday of rush week. This is the only time all chapters are in the same place and it's helpful if you want to narrow down which houses to visit. From there visit the fraternities you liked the most and if one ends up being a chapter without a house than so be it. Just because somebody is new doesn't mean they don't deserve a shot because all chapters were new on campus at some point. Also, just because Gamma Phi Beta is coming this Fall does not mean they will be paired together it doesn't work like that. Nobody is really sure who Gamma Phi will be paired with for events because they have no members yet.

Phi Sig is brand new, yes, but that doesn't mean anything. They don't have a house and have a bunch of goobers. However, I would definitely go to the BBQ on that Sunday to talk to all the fraternities at once. I'd also recommend going house to house to see how the brothers really are.
