disappointed
by: PNM.When you like a sorority and the things they stand for (philanthropy and values) but everyone in all their pictures is really skinny so you have no chance...

I am very sorry that you feel that way. It is one of the unfortunate truths about the sorority system certainly at UF and at other SEC schools. It is just super competitive. You will read here that looks and size do not matter and you will find your perfect house. The reality is is that both of them that matter A LOT as it is a very competitive system. Sometimes girls do not find a sorority home here. I definitely do not want to sound discouraging however I think it is important for PNMs to be aware of the truth. I think this year there will be an opportunity for anyone to join a sorority with G Phi coming on board. Hopefully this will allow many of those who are dropped by the other sororities to be included and find a sorority home. Recruitment is definitely not for the faint of heart. Good luck!

Keep in mind that the pictures on the social media accounts are hand-selected, curated collections of each sorority's "face team". Every sorority has larger girls (except ZTA), they just may not showcase them on social media. If you see big girls in their pictures, it just means they're proud of all their sisters no matter what size and don't want to hide them away from recruitment - IMO, these are the strongest chapters.

Just warning you now, Round 1 is so judgmental and facey because you only have 5-10 minutes to really talk to a sister, even less if they try and pass you to another sister to meet. They mostly judge you on appearance, I'm sorry that's just how it is because it's really competitive it's hard to really get to know someone round 1 so I'd suggest selling some big points about yourself and be ready for a quick conversation that'll help you stand out! Round 1 will be the most cuts, then as the rounds progress, you get more deep conversations when you get to really know the girls.

Do any sororities take bigger girls at all?? It seems like none of them do... Maybe I should try to lose some weight and rush next year.
