by: transfer

OK so i'm already affiliated but if I go to UF, can I rush again or do i HAVE to stick with my letters? I just want to rush to see if i'll be placed in the same home or a new home.. :P i heard that when you're initiated, you can't rush at all.

If you were initiated into an NPC sorority, you can never join a different one.

An initiated member to a NPH sorority is initiated for life, even if she drops out or moves, and she can never join another one. THat being said, I know a girl who somehow managed to become initiated at ZTA, switch schools, and then got initiated there at KD....but I'm assuming for most people they have a database and she somehow snuck through,

If you go through recruitment and end up wanting to join your current sorority and they remember they dropped you or something, you're kind of screwed

Once you're initiated, you're in that sorority for good and you can't rush another one. If you pledged and dropped out before initaiton, though, you're eligible to rush again the next year.

Is getting a bid different from being initiated?

Yes, a bid means you can't go through recruitment for a calendar year. Being initiated means you never can again

So I could rush in Spring but I could rush the next fall if I only got a bid, right?

If you got a bid in the Fall and dropped BEFORE initiation, you can rush this upcoming fall. If you got a bid in the Spring and dropped BEFORE initiation, you can also rush this upcoming fall. Basically, if you get a bid and drop, you can not rush until the next formal recruitment season (which is in the beginning of the fall semester).
So if you get a bid this fall and drop, you can not rush in the spring, you must wait until next fall.
I know, it's confusing. It will all make sense one day I promise.
Also getting a bid does not make you a sister, you are a new member (pledge or whatever the chapter calls their new members). The pledging process usually lasts around 8 weeks, and basically you learn all of the details and history of the chapter and get to know your pledge class and the active sisters. Initiation is where you become a sister, and learn all the secrets of your chapters ritual. Once you are initiated, you can not rush again or get a bid from any other NPC sorority.

You are already affiliated? You mean you are a sister of a certain house, but not from the UF chapter? If you are a sister of a sorority you would know that once a sister always a sister. You don't become a sister of a national sorority and then go through rush to get a bid at another sorority. Are you for real or just making up a scenario? SMH
