curiosity about dropping

by:

I've been reading on this page and the rating page about how sigma kappa is having some problems. I don't know how believable they are but if they were actually real problems, has anyone dropped out and why? I just figured if the problems were so real people would have left

There's been a lot of talk recently of Sigma Kappa sisters bullying other sisters for their political and religious beliefs, and quite a few have dropped from it.
That being said, a lot of girls still really like SK so if you fall in love with the house, don't let things discourage you. Just be aware.

Is bullying considered hazing?

By: ?
by: No

They wouldn't bully pledges, they would all drop immediately and rerush. So no.

Is it considered hazing if groups of sisters bully other sisters?

Literally read the post above you.
You literally are unable to haze sisters. Hazing, by definition, is done by active members to pledges.
It is just bullying.
Not to be sassy, but please read.

I did read your previous post however it did not give a definition of hazing. I am actually going to go through as a PNM and I don't have a ton of knowledge about Greek life

There is a definition of hazing on the UF Dean of Students website.

No wonder they initiate you so fast. So they can bully you and not get in trouble for hazing. Makes all kinds of sense. On a more serious note, bullying can lead to depression and suicide. This is a very serious issue.

They weren't bullied per say... From what I heard there are just some people who don't like conservatives or Christians. Not bullying, just a matter of opinion

^ I don't think the problem lies with bullies. The problem is you sign up and go through rush expecting to join a sisterhood. You pay thousands of dollars just to be made fun of for being Christian or conservative or any religion/political affiliation. The organization is not living up to what it is suppose to be doing.

I have never heard of any bullying happening in my sorority. My sisters are nothing but loving and accepting. These are just rumors, I wouldn't worry.

You must not be very active in the chapter to have missed this.

I think the bullying was kept on the DL and the executive made sure it did not come out to be a huge deal because to be honest they should've lost their charter for how exclusive some of the girls were in there. I left there after three months of being in the chapter but after hearing some gossip through the friends I still have in the chapter, it is bad and I know several girls are planning on leaving.
