Are letters of rec worth it for sorority rush? Should PNMs bother?

I mean a letter of rec is always good but sororities don't put a lot of weight on the opinion of a random alum who probably doesn't even know you that well. So if you can get them, do it, but if you can't, don't stress.

if I have a Rec from a girl that was well liked and graduated only a year or two ago, would that help more so? I understand that a lot of Recs are from some random adult, so I understand why they hold little weight, but I was just wondering if the who factor would make a difference?

In my house, it definitely makes a bigger difference since most of us will know the sister that graduated. But really, only if you have a personal relationship with her, not like you both lived in the same city and might smile at each other at the grocery store.
