disadvantage?

by: sophomore

is there a disadvantage as a sophomore going into rush? i heard both sides but truthfully, will it hurt my chances of getting into my top choice like a top tier or middle tier?

Not at all! There were quite a few of sophomores in my PC and I'm in an upper mid sorority. I have a lot of friends in other mid and top sororities who also had a decent number of sophomores and even juniors! I don't think it hurts your chances at all, especially if you're friends with girls in those sororities! Good luck rushing :)

So there's a quota for upperclassmen. Just like every chapter took 80-100 women in for their newest pledge class, there is roughly the same number of upperclassmen in each sorority. Being a sophomore doesnt hurt, you'll just be judged against other sophomores instead of freshmen.

Hey, I really felt the need to answer this because I rushed as a sophomore last year and I was honestly freaking out because of it. I thought I'd be dropped by all the houses I liked. In the end I wasn't dropped by any houses throughout recruitment and got a bid from my first pick from the beginning :) Needless to say, I was so surprised. You will be fine!

how was your gpa/involvement freshman year? does it actually matter as long as it's over a 3.0?

I had a decent gpa around 3.5. To be honest gpa doesn't matter very much as long as it's not very low, It's more how you present yourself.
