Do your activities that you were involved in during freshman year such as clubs or lack of play a huge part in recruitment? I just wanted to focus on my grades for the first year

Listen, just be yourself. Yes, it would have been nice if you were involved your freshman year. Sororities are big on innolvement and philanthropy. However, if you tell them that you really wanted to focus on grades and stuff, they will understand. You will find where your meant to be.

hey, you wonderful helpful mermaid, can you help me out? I honestly didn't "get" greek life when I started school, because I didn't know anything about it, but realized within a week that it is exactly for me... If I had known I would have started right away. Any ways of phrasing this better? I don't wanna sound mean or weird. If there's not a good way to say it then I'll just say it was because I wanted to just focus on the transition to college, but I'm worried that might sound even worse. I did do activities, one was marching band and the other main one is a club for my major. Any ways of making band sound less dorky? lol sorry this is so many questions but honest to god you might actually save my life <3

Okay ignoring the fact that you're using "<3" in the year 2015, I'll reiterate this girl's correct advice:

JUST

BE

YO'

SELF

But honestly while involvement is nice (dazzler/cheer, SG, cicerones are notable, and anything else shows you're well-rounded) there's nothing more important than socializing well with the girls rushing you. That's 85% of rush. We have grade minimums, references, legacies, ect, and being pretty/composed naturally affects how you're received by the rusher, but this is the truth. The most important thing you can do is relax. It's nerve wracking for a lot of girls, but that's your biggest hurdle, just being yourself and seeing if you mesh well with sisters. Getting all preoccupied with what spiel to give is a huge mistake. Honestly. Relax. For your own good.

What sorority allowed a girl in with a 0.25? How did she get into UF? What did their nationals say? This seems like a weird lie.

Yes, there's usually a certain GPA you'll need, but the actual number varies a lot between the houses!

would you know the range?

My house's minimum is a 2.75. Others are higher though but sometimes it's ignored. I know one person who was initiated with a 0.25 GPA

nobody cares about your gpa. nobody cares that you are/were in band, nobody cares if you're in a club. just socialize with girls and don't try hard and be yourself. trust the process.
